Wulff is the conservative state Prime Minister of Lower Saxony and he
was named as the official candidate of center-right coalition. He is
expected to win the election, scheduled for June 30. Wulff is a deputy
leader of Chancellor Angela Merkel's CDU and he will be elected almost
for sure by an assembly of 1 244 state and federal lawmakers, where
coalition has a majority. More see here
